ARANMULA THANKA ANKI PROCESSION

Swamiye saranam Ayyappa 🙏
The ceremonial procession carrying the sacred golden attire, Thanka Anki, to Sabarimala in connection with the annual Mandalam festival at the Ayyappa temple will set off from Sree Parthasarathy Temple at Aranmula on Wednesday morning.
The golden attire, weighing 420 sovereigns, was presented to the Ayyappa Temple by the late Chithira Tirunal Balarama Varma of the erstwhile Travancore royal dynasty as his offering to the presiding deity way back in 1973. Since then, the attire is being carried to Sabarimala in a ceremonial procession for the Mandala puja, every year.
According to the Travancore Devaswom Board (TDB) president Prayar Gopalakrishnan, the procession carrying Thanka Anki will set off to Sabarimala from Aranmula at 7 a.m. on Wednesday.
An Ayyappa idol decorated with the sacred attire will be kept on the Sree Parthasarathy Temple premises from 5 a.m. to 6.50 a.m. for the devotees to have darshan.
The idol will be taken to Pampa in a motorised chariot modelled on a typical Kerala temple.
Devotees will accord rousing reception to the procession at different places before it reaches Pampa at the foothills of Sabarimala on December 26 via Laha, Plappally, Nilackal and Attathode. The Akhila Bharatha Ayyappa Seva Sanghom volunteers will take the sacred attire in a wooden box to Sabarimala Sannidhanam from Pampa in another procession, later in the afternoon.
The Travancore Devaswom Board authorities will receive the Thanka Anki when the procession reaches Saramkuthi on the trekking path.
Sarvam sastha mayam 🙏
